I Replaced a 500,000-Peso Team With AI. Then I Had to Prove Someone Else Could Too.
I have been telling people that, with a Claude subscription, I can now direct work that once required around 500,000 pesos in team costs.
It is true. It is also my story.
So there is a fair question behind it: could another founder do the same thing?
Freeman is the reason I can answer yes.
Hear Freeman tell the story himself
In his own words, Freeman explains what was broken, what changed, and why keeping his authentic voice mattered.
Freeman already had the message
Freeman Fung is an international speaker, bestselling author, and the founder of Travel to Transform. When he walks off a stage, hundreds of people may want to speak with him individually. His problem was not a lack of purpose or a lack of something worth saying.
The problem was everything waiting behind the stage.
“Last year we met at the Vietnam event. And I was scrambling with all the backend, different platforms and systems.”Freeman Fung
At the time, Freeman was a client of my former agency. I had assigned people to his programs, funnels, creatives, and automations. On paper, he had a team behind him.
Then the work would come back.
A design might have been approved, but the final creative would still feel off. A compliance detail would be missed. A link would break. A workflow that was supposed to follow up with people would be unfinished or fail to fire.
I would end up inside Freeman's calls tracing the links, testing the funnels, checking the automations, and doing the quality control myself. That was not supposed to be my role on the account. But my name was behind the promise, and I could see the system was not ready.
Then the agency stopped operating
This is the part I have to own.
If I had handled the closure the way these situations are normally handled, Freeman could have been left with an unfinished project. He would still have the subscriptions. He could still be paying salaries or another service fee. Then he would need to find a new developer or agency willing to make sense of work they did not begin, with no guarantee that the next result would be better.
He would still be paying. He would still be waiting. And he would still be at the mercy of whichever technical person understood the system that week.
“Cris literally dissected all the problems and mapped it out so clearly for me.”Freeman Fung
As an act of good faith, I made sure Freeman was taken care of. But fixing his project was no longer enough. I needed to answer a harder question.
How do I make sure this does not happen to the next client?
The deliverable had to change
The old model treated the finished website or funnel as the deliverable. The founder paid, the specialists built it, and the founder remained dependent on those specialists for the next change.
I wanted Freeman to leave with something different: the ability to direct, inspect, and improve the system himself.
We consolidated the core operation in GoHighLevel. We mapped the customer journey. We used AI to turn pieces that had required separate briefs, meetings, revisions, and handoffs into workflows Freeman could control.
“He helped me to migrate from Squarespace, Kajabi, and a couple of different platforms into GoHighLevel. And now everything is all in one place.”Freeman Fung
Today, Freeman can update his website without waiting for a developer. He can create funnels. He can automate his social media marketing. He can improve parts of the operation that previously required another round of messages and another person in the chain.
He did not have to become a developer to do it.
The proof showed up before his Vietnam talk
Before Freeman's 2026 talk in Vietnam, he launched again. This time, the email automations were firing. Instead of trying to answer every person one to one, he could stay in touch with many people at the same time.
“I just had an amazing launch before speaking again in Vietnam this year. It was an incredible launch because all the email automations were firing.”Freeman Fung
“I can really now communicate from one to many at the same time, so that I can stay in touch with people.”Freeman Fung
This is where the story became more than my own claim about AI and overhead. Freeman now had that capacity inside his own business. The work could keep moving without every small change waiting in someone else's queue.
More capacity, without losing his voice
This was never supposed to turn Freeman into a machine. It was supposed to give him more time to do the parts only Freeman can do.
“One thing I really love about Cris is that he preserved my authenticity as well.”Freeman Fung
“He helped me to craft this whole communication process with my audience in a way that speaks in my tone.”Freeman Fung
That distinction matters. AI should not make an impact-driven founder sound less human. It should remove repetitive dependencies and free the founder to show up where human judgment, relationships, taste, and leadership matter.
I do not believe every person should be replaced. I do believe founders should be able to see and control the systems their businesses rely on.
The system should be worthy of the mission
Freeman helps people use travel as a path to personal growth, conscious living, and becoming a global citizen. That work should not be half-done because a link is broken, a workflow does not fire, or the right service provider is too expensive for the stage of business he is in.
For a large part of my life, I stood on the service-provider side. I was the freelancer. I was the contractor. Then I became the agency owner who had to answer for every promise the team made.
I have seen good founders with meaningful work get stuck because nobody behind the scenes could deliver. I have also seen the pressure on service providers trying to do too much with too little. Freeman's story matters to me because I have stood on both sides of that broken model.
The answer is not to pretend people no longer matter. The answer is to stop making a founder's ability to move depend on a chain of people they have to chase.
The question for another founder
Where is your business still waiting on someone else for basic execution?
Is it the website? The funnel? The content? The follow-up after an event? The customer journey nobody can explain without opening six different platforms?
You do not have to become a technical founder. But you should own the system.
